FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long before my tattoo should I apply the cream?

About 60 minutes before your session. Apply a thick 2–3mm layer, wrap it tightly in cling film, and keep the film on until your artist removes it.

How long does the numbing last?
Most people get several hours, and many get much longer. It depends on your skin, the placement, the style of tattoo, how long your artist spends on one area and, most of all, how well the cream was applied. Not applying enough, not wrapping properly and not cleaning the skin first are the most common reasons it wears off early.

Can I reapply the cream during my session?
No. The cream must never be used on broken skin. Once your tattoo has started, use our Numbing Spray instead. It’s made for broken skin and helps get you over the finish line.

Which cream is the strongest?
Platinum Edition is our newest and strongest formula. Black Edition is still very strong, and some people prefer it. Everyone’s skin is different, so it comes down to personal preference.

How much cream do I need?
One 10g tube covers about 20cm², and one 30g tube covers about 60cm². For big pieces like sleeves or back pieces, go for the 30g tube or a multi-buy pack.

Why do I need to patch test?
Reactions are rare, but they can happen. Apply a small amount to a small area 48 hours before your session to make sure your skin is happy with it.

Is redness normal?
Yes. Mild local redness after removing the cream is normal and nothing to worry about.

My cream has turned brown. Is it still OK?
The cream can turn brown when exposed to air, which reduces its effectiveness. Use it as soon as possible after opening and keep the cap on.

Can I use it with other creams?
No. Don’t use Extreme Numb alongside other creams.

Who shouldn’t use it?
It’s not suitable for pregnant women or young children, and it’s not for internal use or broken skin. If you’re unsure, speak to your doctor first.

Can I use it for anything other than tattoos?
Yes. It’s also used for laser tattoo removal, laser hair removal, waxing, lip fillers, permanent makeup and piercings.

Does the Tattoo Balm numb the skin?
No. The balm is purely for aftercare. It contains no numbing ingredients and is designed to support your skin while it heals.

When will my order arrive?
Orders placed before 12pm are sent the same day (excluding Sundays) by Royal Mail Tracked 24. Most orders arrive the next day, but this isn’t guaranteed. UK delivery is free on orders over £40.
